Since the summer of 2007, Bacco Italian Restaurant has served Mt. Pleasant, Charleston and its surrounding areas “la cucina Italiana” or the Italian kitchen.

Being a true regional Italian restaurant, Bacco’s dishes are inspired by the northern regions of Italy such as Piemonte, Veneto and Alto Adige, all the way down to the southern areas of Italy of Campania & Calabria and sailing the Mediterranean to the isles of Sicily and Sardegna.

 At the age of 25, chef and owner Michael Scognamiglio opened with confidence Bacco Italian restaurant.  Previously working in kitchens in the area and going to College of Charleston to obtain a business degree, Michael found a love for the hospitality industry and a passion for cooking. With family hailing from Venice & Naples Italy, the Italian culture was imbedded in him, and working under Charleston’s great restauranteur and Chef John Marshall, he was ready to show Mount Pleasant and Charleston what he knew and learned. Making fresh pastas, pulling fior di latte mozzarella, andcooking Neapolitan style pizzas out of his wood burning oven, Michael is bringing Italy to the Lowcountry one dish at a time.
